Except from Border Living Magazine Spring 2008

"This year The Midnight Hour, originally written and directed by Donna Woods in 1995 and given a 2008 makeover, played to a full house over two weekends. A romping ‘Transylvanian extravaganza’ of rockin’ music and rollicking good fun featured such delights as the illustrious Dr Frank and his myriad of grotesque and flirtatious followers; the grooving Blues Brothers; an odd couple looking for a good time; and a movie director and his singing assistant in search of some prime time. The result: a sidesplitting song and dance spectacular. Add to this a well stocked bar, delicious roast dinner and a decadent selection of slices, and you begin to understand why tickets for these shows are booked by the busload. It’s a project that’s enthusiastically embraced by a large number of community volunteers who take time out from their busy lives as school teachers, bus drivers, shop owners, mothers, farmers, agronomists, and the like, to become performers, set designers, stage hands, costume makers, cooks, bar attendants, publicity officers and ticket sellers. This year even a couple of the tourists got involved."

BATS

Boomi Amateur Thespian Society, known as BATS is our locally written, hugely successful and always funny theatre-restaurant musical. It is an entire community event held almost every August since 1991. Everyone helps in so many ways.....from directing, costume making, backdrop painting, sound and lighting, catering, promotion and of course.... singing, dancing and acting!!.
Four performances run over two consecutive weekends with guests travelling from throughout the district and beyond to attend. It has become our biggest fundraiser for the community with the profits going directly back to our Boomi organisations. It's an event not to be missed!
